The Mullaitivu District Coordinating Committee meeting was convened today (29) to identify the urgent needs of the people of Mullaitivu district affected by the floods in the country.
Deputy Minister of Co-operative Development Upali Samarasinghe presided over the meeting held at the Mullaitivu District Secretariat and was attended by All Ceylon Makkal Congress Leader and Parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen, Wanni District Parliamentarians, District Secretary A. Uma Maheswaran, Additional District Secretary S. Gunabalan, Divisional Secretaries, Disaster Management Officers, other Department officials and security officials.
It was also discussed about the people who have been displaced by the floods and are being accommodated in temporary camps and how to provide them with their basic needs.
Issues related to agriculture, livestock, fisheries, food, drinking water, disease prevention, irrigation, drainage under local authorities and rural roads were also discussed at today's coordination committee meeting and solutions were presented.
